Watch Willie Nelson’s 80th Birthday Concert With Jack White and Neil Young at Third Man Records

Willie Nelson celebrated his 80th birthday by taping a “CMT Crossroads” special at Jack White’s Third Man Records, which aired last night. The concert featured several special guests, including Neil Young (who apparently spends more time at Third Man than we previously thought). Below, watch the entire episode, plus a series of videos featuring Jack and Willie in conversation.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Patti Smith to Rock The Capitol Theatre

Neil Young & Crazy Horse will perform at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on September 2. Patti Smith will join them as their supporting act for the show, which will be the one year anniversary celebration for the recently reopened venue. The 1800 capacity Capitol Theatre will also be the smallest place that Neil Young and Crazy Horse have played in recent memory. Tickets to the concert will go on sale this Friday, June 28 at noon ET.
Neil Young will be at The Capitol Theatre just a few days before he and Crazy Horse headline the inaugural Interlocken Festival in Arrington, VA on September 7. That event will also feature performances by Furthur, Widespread Panic, The String Cheese Incident, The Black Crowes, Gov’t Mule, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jimmy Cliff and many more.

FarmAid: Saratoga Lineup Announced

banner_FarmAid_2005 The extended lineup for the Farm Aid 2013 concert, which will be staged at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Sept. 21, was announced late Sunday.

Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young and Dave Matthews will be joined by Jack Johnson, Amos Lee, Kacey Musgraves, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Bahamas, JD & The Straight Shot, and Pegi Young & The Survivors. Matthews will be joined by guitarist Tim Reynolds.

Tickets range from $45 to $150, and will go on sale at 10am Friday through ticketmaster.com, at the SPAC Box Office, or by phone at 800-745-3000. A number of premium VIP seats, which range from $300 to $1,500, will also be available.

“The Farm Aid benefit concert takes place each year thanks to the generosity of artists who donate their talent to raise awareness about the crucial need we have for family farmers on the land,” said Carolyn Mugar, executive director of Farm Aid, in a prepared statement.

Farm Aid’s all-day music and food festival will spotlight family farm food and offer a number of hands-on activities, as well as showcase local, organic, sustainable, humanely-raised family farm ingredients.

Since 1985, Farm Aid has raised more than $43 million to support programs that help farmers thrive, expand the reach of the Good Food Movement, take action to change the dominant system of industrial agriculture and promote food from family farms, organizers said. – See more at:

Watch Neil & Willie on June 23

Watch Neil Young & Wille Nelson perform a beautiful rendition of “Long May You Run” on CMT Crossroads on June 23.

http://www.cmt.com/videos/misc/919696/long-may-you-run-from-cmt-crossroads.jhtml#id=1709071

CMT Crossroads is a series of specials that aims to connect country-music luminaries with friends from across musical divides, but it usually just combines different flavors of cheese.  (The last episode, for instance, paired Rascal Flatts with Journey.)

But the show’s next episode promises to be something special. Willie Nelson taped his Willie Nelson & Friends special at Jack White’s Third Man Records, and he brought a roster of guests that included Jamey Johnson, Sheryl Crow, Leon Russell, Norah Jones, and Ashley Monroe.

And in what must’ve been a show-stopping moment, Nelson’s fellow free-spirited reedy-voiced legend Neil Young joined Nelson onstage to perform an absolutely shattering acoustic version of the 1976 Stills-Young Band classic “Long May You Run,” with no further accompaniment. Watch it below, and try not to let that hug at the end absolutely destroy you.
