Ohhhh ohhh Mon-san-to

NeilYoungRebelTourThe word is out that Neil Young is putting out a new album called “The Monsanto Years,” and will be sharing songs from the album on his new tour with the Nelson brothers.

Rolling Stone is reporting that Young is teaming up with up-and-coming band Promise of the Real to record an album called “The Monsanto Years,” which will be full of songs critical of the company.

Young first teased the possibility that he would write an album called “The Monsanto Years” in January, but it seemed, at first, to be a joke, according to The Huffington Post.

Turns out it’s not. According to a press representative at Warner Brothers Records, Young will release “The Monsanto Years,” and promote it on a joint tour with Promise of the Real, this summer. (He said that the exact release date had not yet been finalized.) Songs on the album are said to carry such provocative titles as “New Day For The Planet,” “Rock Starbucks,” “Too Big To Fail” and “Monsanto Years.”

Tom Hambleton at Sugarmountain.org reports the following NEW songs (Titles not certain) were recently played by Young & the Promise of the Real band on April 16 at SLO Brewing in San Luis Obispo, Calif: “People Want to Hear About Love,” “New Day for the Planet,” “Too Big to Fail,” “Rock Starbucks,” and “Monsanto Years,

The album will gain some anti-corporate credibility from two of the members of Promise of the Real: Lukas and Micah Nelson, the sons of Willie Nelson. Nelson père is an outspoken critic of Monsanto and other large agribusinesses, which have been accused of putting profits ahead of human health and environmental sustainability in the development of new crop varieties and agricultural chemicals.

Reached by The Huffington Post, Monsanto didn’t immediately provide comment on Young’s new album.

Neil Young featured on new Bachman song “Little Girl Lost”

Bachman Heavy BluesWeeks after announcing his new “Heavy Blues” Randy Bachman has unveiled the title track — a guitar-heavy number that lives up to its name with assistance from special guest Peter Frampton, according to Ultimate Classic Rock.

The song list includes Neil Young featured on song 4 “Little Lost Girl.”

UCR writer Jeff Giles says Bachman’s new project began with a conversation between Bachman and his friend Neil Young, who spurred him to dig deeper for his next solo effort.

Bachman said:  “He said, ‘Take some advice. Don’t do the same old crap and call it something new.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ He said, ‘Don’t do the same thing and say it’s a new album … Stop, get out of the box, do something fearless, be fierce, be ferocious, reinvent yourself.’ And I go, ‘OK, great advice.’”.

In addition to Frampton and Young, Bachman’s joined on ‘Heavy Blues’ by Joe Bonamassa and Robert Randolph, and makes use of an archival performance from the late Jeff Healey. The album isn’t scheduled to arrive in U.S. stores until April 15, but it’s available for pre-order now.

Neil Young Recording New Album With Willie Nelson’s Sons

Neil with Lucas and Micah NelsonRolling Stone’s Andy Green wrote that Neil Young is planning a new album with Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah Nelson.

He writes in Rolling Stone:

“Neil Young sat down with Rolling Stone Executive Editor Nathan Brackett at the International Consumer Electronics Show on Jan. 7 to discuss the long-awaited rollout of his Pono music player, but he also shared details of his next LP.

“I’m working on another album now that I’m going to do be doing with Willie Nelson’s sons,” he said, jokingly suggesting he would title it The Monsanto Years after the agriculture company he’s been railing against for years. “It’s an upbeat review of the situation.”

Young was less sure about his other future plans. “I don’t know much about the future,” he said. “I want to [focus on Pono] and I want to continue playing music. Those two things should keep me pretty busy.  I have some film editing and things to do on the side. I’ll probably be writing some more books. I want to keep doing what I do. I’d like to continue doing it for a long time.”

Well its not like Neverland or anything. We just have horses, cows. We don\\\'t have a giraffe, we don\\\'t have a preschool group. We had some emus for a while. They were pretty cool.
